invite you to the lecture series

"Delivering on the 2030 Agenda:
Shifting Paradigms and Practice"

               Lecture Series SS2018

The Department “European and International Networks” in the International Office of the University of Bonn establishes and fosters networks on the European and international level and interlinks the University of Bonn with European and international organizations and stakeholders. These networking activities are supported by Bonn’s unique location advantage within Germany, characterized by a large number of scientific institutions, research funding organizations, UN agencies and other institutions that operate internationally. Bonn’s location and our strong regional network serve as our gateway to the world, enabling us to strengthen our European and international networks in a sustainable manner.

The Knowledge Centre for Sustainable Development was established by the United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC) in 2016 in Bonn, Germany. Its mission is to respond to the comprehensive learning, training, and knowledge management needs of UN staff and partners in the context of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development as well as the Paris Agreement under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. To address the requirements of the 2030 Agenda, the UNSSC Knowledge Centre integrates knowledge across UN agency mandates and thematic pillars of sustainable development. The UNSSC Knowledge Centre’s role in inter-agency learning, knowledge sharing, and knowledge management enhances coherence of development interventions and increases operational and conceptual capacity of UN staff as well as a multitude of other partners.

This joint lecture series aims at increasing the visibility of the topic “sustainable development” at the University of Bonn among stakeholders with diverse backgrounds. It offers a platform for students of all fields of study, young experts in the area of international cooperation and sustainable development and other interested parties to engage in joint learning and discussion on crucial topics of sustainable development. In this way, best practice concepts can be´carried into studies, research and work practice.

The lecture series takes place on five Thursday evenings:
April 26, June 7, June 14, June 28 and July 5, 2018.
